Liril Commercial

Everybody remembers Liril, especially the "laa...la la la laa" tune that we heard in the commercial back then and even today in the modern Liril commercials. The first Liril girl was Karen Lunel and she was there to stay for a long time until Anoosha Dalal took over and finally it was Preity Zinta's turn. This commercial could be rated as the most bravest of the yesteryear  and it could make your squirm if the Ad was aired on TV and you happened to be watching with the family. Well, here it is again for you to see and reminisce the old memories. No squirming this time...

Nestle Milkybar Commercial

Nestle Milkybar's Ad in particular triggers a lot of memories for most of us who were kids between the late 80's and the early 90's. The bar was targeted at the young population of India and was aired in the evenings when all the kids went back home to watch some productive television after play time.

Nestle went with the 'Nestle Milkybar  Kid' as there was already the 'Complan Boy/ Girl', 'Rasna Girl' and many others. The commercial soon caught on but the product did not go down well with the unfortunate ones who were intolerant to lactose.

Other Nestle Products from the past

The Milkybar is still available in the supermarkets today for 10 rupees but back then, it was a prized possession. A day or sometimes a weeks worth of homework and good behavior could be demanded in exchange for the Milkybar which came with a sleek carton packed shell.

Nestle's 'Milkybar kid' happened to show off his Milkybar power in space while at the same time the 'Milkybar kid' in the United Kingdom was a cowboy. Nestle knew that there was something about space with the kids growing up during that time in India.

Bullet - Enfield Commercial

Bullet was the rage in the early 80's and 90's. Enfield was right in its advertising when it said the following words:
  "Some guys won't get it."

Bullet ruled the roost until the Indian make - Rajdoot started to take over. Rich farmers and well off employees could afford a bullet back in the day. Here is a print advertisement for the bike.

Finally, this is what you are here for - The Old commercial for the  bike which was aired on Doordarshan. Check it out and let me know through your comments  if the advertisement rings any bells.

Action Micro Footwear Commercial

This is a very old  commercial of Action for its Micro footwear series of products. I remember watching this commercial in the evenings during the Doordarshan days. Do you have any memories related to this product?  Share it with us in the comments below.

BRU Coffee Commercial

Bru always used innovative methods of advertising to reach out to its prospective customers which is mainly the youth. This advertisement on Doordarshan features Amrita Rao who most of you now know as the actor who debuted in the movie 'Ishq Vishq' and later went on to act is several Hindi and Telugu movies.

Amrita Rao's most remembered Ad in her advertising career is this Bru Coffee Advertisement in which she plays a role of a girl (Sneha) who is trying desperately to put across to her dad over a freshly prepared cup of Bru Coffee about her boyfriend - Sagar. She really convinces us with her acting skills. Some of you may even relate to her situation in the Ad.

Some of the other advertisements to Amrita's name which are worth mentioning are the Fairever - Fairness Cream commercial and Cadbury Perk.

I'd love to hear from you about your thoughts on this Bru Coffee commercial that used to be aired on Doordarshan a long time ago. Can dad's really understand all that which goes on in a daughters heart, or is Sneha just lucky to have a dad who can understand her?

Let your thoughts flow in words !!!

Here is something that Amrita Rao has written about her favorite things herself:
